The Clinical Success Formula How to Reduce Anxiety Build Confidence and Pass with Flying Colors Dan Eisner 9780997675733 Books

This book was a great guide to preparing myself for level II fieldwork rotations. It tremendously impacted my confidence. In order to build rapport and successfully utilize therapeutic use of self, one must first achieve a certain level of inner peace, optimism, and presence. This book guides activities that help you delve into your own self-awareness, and can foster your ability to build positive relationships with your patients/clients, as well as your educator. This book contains many activities and suggestions, which I bookmarked with the intent to return to. It can be read across several days/weeks, implementing the suggested activities as you go, or in one sitting if needed. It is succinct, but with great breadth and depth for the subject matter. I had the privilege to meet the author, Dan Eisner, at the 2017 AOTA conference in Philadelphia last week. He is a great person with excellent insight! I highly recommend this book as course material for students transitioning out of the classroom and into the clinical environment.

The Clinical Success Formula How to Reduce Anxiety Build Confidence and Pass with Flying Colors Dan Eisner 9780997675733 Books Reviews

The Clinical Success Formula by Dan Eisner contains tools that can be used by anyone. It is written for students and can be used by any healthcare student or provider. However and more importantly, anyone can be empowered and have life changing experiences by applying the skills and techniques conveyed in this book.
Good but pretty redundant of every self help book I’ve read. Easy read.
I absolutely loved this book! It is packed full of wonderful information, not only for students, but for anyone wanting more direction on their journey of life.
This is far from a clinical success how to manual, it is a book that will help you grow as a person in whatever stage of life you find yourself.
I think it is a must read for all health care students, their teachers and supervisors.
I look forward to learning more from Dan in speaking engagements and perhaps future writings.
it has been a good and helpful book to reduce my stress in my clinical rotations. However he is very heavy into Eastern alternative medicine which has its merits but in he over looks other traditions that are easier to access in more rural areas. I think there are 3 life coaches in my state... i have read some Parker Palmer, Thomas Merton, and Richard Rohr and they have help with my mindfulness and reduced my overall anxiety and stress. The book is a little overpriced in my opinion but still cheaper than taking a class in stress reduction.
As an OT student beginning his level II fieldwork experiences, I was recommended this book. A fellow OT student commented on the helpful techniques and strategies presented by Mr. Eisner, and how they could help relieve nerves I was having prior to beginning my experiences. I have a background in meditation and mindfulness, and I liked how Mr. Eisner used holistic principles loosely to advocate for a healthy mindset going into clinicals. The strategies are not limited to OT, and can be used by a variety of health professions looking for a "leg up" when beginning clinical experiences. Thank you Mr. Eisner!
This book was very valuable read especially since I am about to begin my level II fieldwork placement within the next couple of weeks. As a graduate student I tended to spend a lot of my time studying, working, and in lectures. However, one thing I was lacking was the ability to live in the moment. This book taught me the importance of living in the moment, and that we should not spend our time focusing on the past or future. Going into level II fieldwork I had a lot of anxiety about the need to be perfect, and this book expressed the reasons why that is not necessary. Fieldwork educators will be there to answer your questions. We are students and we are not expected to be experts in everything right now. This book helped me to understand that. I HIGHLY recommend reading this book before starting fieldwork. I had the privilege of meeting Dan at the annual American Occupational Therapy conference in Philadelphia this year, and was very thankful for the opportunity. He is a great guy with a true passion for helping others.
This is a fabulous book to prepare for or to restore your ability to be a conscious clinician. As a Clinical Social Worker, working with patients suffering from chronic and severe mental illness, the necessity to “be present” with patients and other treatment team members can be difficult to maintain. This book is extremely easy to read and digest. This is not a reference book, a technique book, or a strategy book. It has the flavor of all of these with the bonus of stirring your humanity when our work becomes overwhelming. My tattered copy has become an effective respite from the world we are driven (or cursed) to work in. I find an hour of this book to be like an I.M. dose of compassion. I expect I will always have a copy in my small, well shuffled, collection of self care books. Thank you Dan.
